Twitter to Only Allow Users to See Their Own Tweets After Facing Backlash Yet Again

After facing backlash yet again about Twitter’s content moderation policies, Elon Musk announced in a tweet that is no longer viewable, unless you are Elon Musk, that all tweets will now be hidden from anyone else using the platform. “This means that you will no longer see any content that you may not agree with. Now you’ll be able to make sure you don’t run across any kind of dissenting opinion, or “fake news”. You’ll only be able to view your own tweets and nobody else’s. All speech will be free.” Read the announcement.

The move faced widespread commendation, or maybe backlash, we couldn’t really tell, but according to our own twitter feed, which consisted of only our tweets, the news didn’t cause much of a fuss.

Luckily for narcissists and rich people, Elon is also keeping Twitter blue. Yes, even though you’ll only be able to see your own tweets, you can still become “verified” on the platform for only $8 a month.

We checked AOC’s twitter to see how they felt about still having to fess up $8 for their coveted blue emoji, but again, could not see any tweets from any other account.

Normally we would get a few statements via twitter to help lengthen our articles to make them look like anyone except us cares, but since journalism in 2022 is just reading and quoting tweets and making some stuff up, we may be out of a job soon. We will be taking donations, if you’d like to donate, you can reach us on twi- Uh, facebook, or is it meta now? Actually, just send us Bitcoin.
